Our Vision for the future is clear -- to become the premier private school Foundation and organization for raising and disseminating funds for the advancement of Pine Forge Academy.
This school holds the honorable distinction of one of only four remaining African-American coed boarding academies in the United States. Pine Forge Academy has a distinguished 59-year history of providing excellent education for minority youth in grades 9 through 12 in beautiful rural setting of rolling hills and dales, intercepted by the winding, picturesque Manatawny Creek in Berks County, Pennsylvania, known as Pine Forge.
The historical significance of the land dates back to Colonial American in the early 1700s, when William Penn deeded it as a gift to abolitionist Thomas Rutter. A Sabbathian Quaker, Thomas Rutter, openly opposed and preached against slavery. An underground tunnel, beneath the estate, served as a station on the Underground Railroad†for runaway slaves escaping north to freedom. The Wagner Hall Administration building over looks the historic Manor House, which recently was named a national treasure.
Pine Forge Academy is committed to providing a Christ-centered curriculum in a safe, caring environment, to prepare students spiritually, intellectually, physically and socially for service to God and man.
The Pine Forge Academy Foundation, Inc. will position its donor base to achieve a solid revenue stream for the Academy. This challenge is faced by all private institutions which serve the needs of our underserved African-American youth of today. Our particular focus will be to provide an opportunity for urban youth, who would not otherwise be able to escape the ravages of the urban centers, to obtain a Christian education.
The Foundation intends to create strong programs and services that leverage the powerful resources of the champions and advocates for educating African American youth to be strong global leaders of tomorrow. The Foundation’s initiative is to create and effectively implement programs, policies and processes to provide excellent donor services, follow-up coverage, innovative fundraising initiatives and governance oversight over donated funds to achieve the restricted and unrestricted donors’ desired investment objectives. A sound strategy that is adopted and supported by the Board and the related strategic partners is a mandate for the Foundation leadership.
Our Goal is to find, develop and apply the best tools, techniques, and processes available, that integrate strategy and technology; and bring together community stakeholders from different sectors - including business, education, community development, youth and adult development and government entities - to solve common educational needs.
