"Forging the Future"

$12 Million Capital Campaign

Pine Forge Academy, like other tuition-based educational institutions, struggles to meet the staggering and increasing costs of providing a quality Christ-based education. Tuition alone does not cover Pine Forge Academy operating costs or its capital needs. Allegheny East Conference has annually subsidized the Academy since 1946. Even with this subsidy, millions of dollars are needed to realize the full potential of Pine Forge Academy. This is the same challenge faced by all private institutions that serve the needs of our African-American students. An answer to this need was the creation of the Pine Forge Academy Foundation, Inc. and the "Forging the Future" Capital Campaign.

In November 2002, a Committee composed of a Pine Forge Academy administrator and teacher, board members and alumni united to develop the first Strategic Plan under the leadership of Dr. Melodie Mayberry-Stewart (alumnus) and Elder Auldwin Humphrey (alumnus and past PFA Headmaster). This diverse Committee developed two visions for Pine Forge Academy in the year of 2010 that would make the headlines of newspapers across the nation. From these visions, the Committee created the seven capital and program strategic initiatives necessary to position Pine Forge Academy as a premier private boarding school. Ten months after starting the process, in August 2003, the Committee completed this project and used their two visions to develop Pine Forge Academy first Strategic Plan that serves as the impetus for the Capital Campaign.

The seven-year Capital Campaign goal is to raise $12 million by December 2010 to fund seven of Pine Forge Academy high-priority strategic capital and program initiatives. The PFA Board of Trustees in September 2003 unanimously voted to accept the strategic initiatives detailed in the Strategic Plan, entitled Creating A Strategic Vision For Producing Global Christian Leaders For the 21st Century Citizenry and Workforce -- The Pine Forge Academy Strategic Plan 2003-2010. The Forging the Future Building 21st Century Global Leaders Capital Campaign will reach out in an unprecedented manner to alumni and friends, as well as to corporate and foundation partners, in support of Pine Forge Academy seven strategic capital and program initiatives.

The Capital Campaign will reconnect Pine Forge Academy alumni to their Alma Mater in meaningful ways that will inspire them to invest in the school academic, developmental and career training pursuits as well as capital improvements and expansion program(s). It will afford the entire Pine Forge Academy community significant opportunities to collaborate and focus on ideas which will strengthen the school. Above all, it will celebrate the rich Pine Forge Academy Legacy of Excellence, secure its future and further heighten its stature among the nation premiere boarding schools for African-American students. The Campaign for Pine Forge Academy will meet these ambitious goals by raising $12 million!

The alumni population constitutes one of the largest constituents (constituencies) of Pine Forge Academy and that includes you. As such, each Alumnus can significantly impact in the existence of the Academy and the economic well being of our Alma Mater. The first 20% of the $12 million will be raised from internal resources, the alumni, board members, faculty and staff, friends and supporters of Pine Forge Academy .

Each of the seven Forging the Future Capital Campaign priorities is essential to Pine Forge Academy mission and to the education of tomorrow Global Leaders who will make a difference.
